The Virtual Villager Voice ~ from Alan

Well, 95% virtual – a shout out to Kyle and Mike for this morning’s breakfast, enjoyed while overlooking Jennings Pond…

How are you doing today?  I find myself asking this question a lot lately – it’s an important one; it’s important that we check in with each other.  I’ve asked it of several of you by phone this week; I asked it of my colleagues during a ZOOM meeting yesterday; it’s a question I text to my children; and yes, I ask it of myself as well.  Just to be sure.

Back to the virtual:  we are doing church this Sunday, in a very different way.  Like lots of other congregations, we are holding worship online this Sunday.  (I understand this will leave out folks who do not have computer access, and we’re very sorry about this.  We will figure something out, because the endeavor remains a work in progress.)

You can worship with us at 10:00 Sunday morning via Facebook Live, and no, you don’t need to use Facebook in order to access it.  Copy and paste this link into your browser:

Click on Posts on the left side menu, and you’re there!  If a red button appears that says “Watch Live,” click on that as well.  If it doesn’t seem to be working, refresh your browser right after 10, that should do it.  Again, this is a work in progress, and we will learn something about the process with each new week.

Your staff has been working hard to make this happen.  What can you do?  First, you can send me your Joys and Concerns so I can include them on Sunday morning (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.). You might want to take a look at the scripture readings ahead of time:  Psalm 139.1-18, John 20.19-22, and I Thessalonians 5.12-22 (and remember, when searching the scriptures, the Table of Contents is your friend!).  And we will be praying Psalm 102 together as our Penitential Psalm, so have your Bibles handy!  Finally, if anyone has a tripod for Sunday’s service please contact me.

You’ve heard from me a lot this week, so I’ll keep the rest of this brief.  Remember that we are praying together at Noon each day as a way of sustaining community, please make every effort to keep pledges and contributions current in order to maintain our effective mission and ministry; and please reach out to me if there is anything you need, as we have a team of parishioners who have volunteered to do things like run errands for you, pick up food & prescriptions, etc.

Stay well, beloved people of God, and wash your hands.
