Turning a Page

Beginning this Sunday we are turning our attention to Stewardship, and will continue to do so over the next three weeks.  And before I write anything else, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!  Your response to last month’s pledge reminder was enthusiastic and generous, and your church appreciates it deeply.  As we plan for the coming year, it is heartening to know how much you all value the mission of our United Church of Chester.  I remain proud and grateful to be your pastor.

We have a wonderful event coming up next week, and we hope you will join us for our annual Tellebration! story telling celebration Saturday Nov 14 at 7:00 pm.   Tickets are still available, and will be until an hour before the performance begins.  You may purchase yours here:

We are also excited to host this year’s Interfaith Thanksgiving Service Sunday November 22 at 3:00.  It will be a Zoom service, and we will be sending out more information in about a week.

By now you should have received the Stewardship mailing.  As part of this year’s Stewardship program, we will also be offering both text and video links to help flesh out what the United Church of Christ calls the Three Great Loves, Love of Neighbor, Love for children and Love for Creation.

Here is a virtual bulletin insert for this week’s theme, Love of Neighbor.

And this is pretty neat:  this week’s video is delivered by The Rev. Darrell Goodwin, who, at the time the video was recorded, was Associate Conference Minister for the Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota Conferences of the UCC; since then, he has been called to be the first Executive Conference Minister of our Southern New England Conference.  Give it a look!

Finally, you will soon be receiving the Call to the Annual Congregational Meeting, to be held via Zoom after worship Sunday November 22.  The link will be sent out a couple days beforehand, and we hope you can attend.

Enjoy this wonderful summerish weekend, dear people of God.
