The Villager Voice

You may have noticed the new art exhibit in the front of our church building.  It snakes, serpentine, at right angles, is fabricated metal, and should be considered in the installation art genre.  An immersive experience, it delivers the active viewer/participant at the church door in a gesture of potent symbolism.  We call it, “Ramp.”
Our church elevator has been out of commission since winter, and although we have reason to hope its repair is within reach, a temporary ramp has been installed to make the sanctuary accessible once again.  We are so grateful to those who have made this happen:  Rick Holloway, Mari Lynd and the Board of Trustees are the prime movers behind the project.  May I suggest, as a gesture of support and solidarity, we all use the ramp this Sunday?
The next several weekends will be notable.  This Sunday of course is Mother’s Day; the following Sunday will feature our Annual Congregational Meeting following worship, the first since 2019 – we hope you will be in attendance; Sunday May 22 is Katie Wilcox Day, commemorating the Chester resident and member of our congregation who established Lady Doak College in Madurai, India; and the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend we celebrate the sacrament of Christian baptism.  What wonderful opportunities for celebration and worship.
