The Villager Voice
Three community-minded notes this morning.
Wasn’t that a wonderful Memorial Day celebration last Monday! This was the first time since the pandemic that so many people felt comfortable being back together outdoors again. Such a spirit of community and neighborliness that morning. The parade was well-attended and the memorials well-organized and executed, and didn’t people enjoy being back at the Meetinghouse for snacks, sandwiches and conviviality. Great music by the elementary school band and the fife and drum corps, good participation and leadership by our local scouts and a sea of smiling faces all around. The nice weather was a plus as well. In all, a great morning.
This weekend the community gathers again to pay tribute to local artist the late Peter Good. On Sunday afternoon June 4 you are invited to the Chester Meetinghouse beginning at 2:00 to celebrate Peter’s life and to hear and share any remembrance you might have of him. As his obituary concludes, Peter believed “I know we will be together. I don’t know how I know, but I do.” This Sunday will be an opportunity to prove his words true.
Finally, as many of you know, our own Allison Abramson has recently left her post as Director of Tri-Town Youth Services, and Chester would like to thank and celebrate all the good work she has done among us for the past seven years. You are invited to honor Allison Sunday afternoon June 25 from 2:00 to 5:00 at the Chester Meetinghouse. People of all ages are welcome – especially children! – There will be music, crafts and games for the whole family. Allison has left an indelible mark on our community, and we wish her all the best in the next chapter of her vocation.
This Sunday morning we will consider the ways that the music of Johann Sebastian Bach has influenced and shaped the church’s experience of worship. Links to the bulletin and service are here:
