A little looking back, a little looking ahead during my first al fresco Coffice Hours of the season…
If you enjoyed the afternoon with the Essex Piano Trio two weeks ago, you aren’t the only ones – they had a great time as well. (They were particularly impressed with our hospitality; they loved the selection of goodies at the reception!). You were a very appreciative and responsive audience, and musicians notice that. So much so that they have already offered to return next year if we’ll have them. The pianist’s husband (who recorded the concert) is an accomplished organist – he noodled around on our organ before the concert to get a feel for how it behaves, so there may be an organ component to next year’s offering. And for those who are wondering, we were able to send $220.00 to Chester Parks & Rec for summer camp scholarships. Thank you all!
And this weekend is our Scrub-a-dub car wash fundraiser for this summer’s Mission Trip to Volusia County in Florida. Everyone who comes to church that morning will have your car washed, and your contributions will help send a team of seven to volunteer in an area that was devastated by not one, but two hurricanes in less than a year. In addition to washing your vehicles we will also have some yummy baked goods for sale, so be sure to join us for the morning, and tell your friends about it as well. Last year we made enough to put us over the top for our fund-raising goal, and we hope this year is equally successful!
