Friday on Thursday

This weekly note reaches you a day early, in part so you can have an extra day to think of your topic for Sunday morning.  This weekend we are having another Spontaneous Sermon Sunday, when the congregation presents questions or topics you’d like me to reflect on and address.  It can be about anything at all:  the Bible, living out our faith, our church’s mission and ministry, Regathering, where is the best place for brunch – you get the idea.  I’ll take your thoughts on the spot that morning and try to do them justice.  And – if you won’t be in person in Sunday’s worship, you can always send your questions or topic to me via email at w.alan.froggatt@uccchester.org and I’ll bring them into the mix.  (Please don’t put them into the comments box during live worship, as I can’t read them in real time.)  I’m looking forward to seeing what you are curious about!

The United Church of Christ is sending funds for relief in the wake of the recent Haitian earthquake and tropical storm.  If you would like to make a contribution, you may either send it to the church office with Haiti Relief on the memo line, or you may make a direct contribution here:

Scroll to the lower half of the page to find the donation operation.  Thank you for your generosity in the face of such dire need.  And remember, our church’s annual commitment to Our Church’s Wider Mission means there are already funds available and organizations at the ready for whenever and wherever disaster strikes; the United Church of Christ works in partnership with Church World Service to bring the healing work of Jesus to those who need it most.

Sunday’s bulletin and link to the service will be sent out tomorrow.
