Simon’s Says
Have you checked out the United Church of Chester’s web page lately? It boasts a brand-spanking new feature on the right margin: a “Donate” button! Having (relatively) successfully managed the transition from in-person worship to virtual worship to hybrid worship, we have taken another small but significant step into the 21st century by making it possible for you – for anyone – to contribute to the UCC’s mission and ministry with a simple click of a button. This is a project that has been underway for some time, and thanks go to our Trustees, Treasurer, Financial Secretaries, and our past and present Parish Administrators. You may make a payment on your pledge, an additional gift to the church, or honor a loved one with a tribute or memorial gift. Take a look for yourself: https://www.uccchester.org
In fact, feel free to take it for a test drive: make a donation and see for yourself how it works. (See what I did there? )
A huge word of thanks to all of you who helped make Anne Easton’s Memorial Service such a wonderful celebration of life. More than 200 souls filled the sanctuary last Saturday to honor her. The entire family was so pleased, the music was stupendous, and it was a gift to worship with our brothers and sisters from First Church in Essex. And while Sunday’s graveside service was a private one, the aura of the previous day still lingered in the hearts of those closest to Anne. Her memory will indeed be a blessing.
Our summer sermon series, “Overlooked and Underpreached,” (autocorrect does not like it when I make up words like that) continues this weekend as we take a look at two brief epistles, II Peter and Jude. The links to the bulletin and service are below, and we’ll see you at 9:00!
