Simon’s Says
June is Pride month, and many thanks to Sally Marston and Skip Weisenberger for restoring our rainbow flag to its rightful place. Apparently some time during winter someone decided they needed it more than we did, and we hope they are flying it in a proudly prominent place. In a couple weeks (June 23) I’m going to reflect on marriage equality and my own experience of the Open and Affirming process; I hope it provides an opportunity for you to reflect on your remembrance and experience of our United Church of Chester’s O & A process and statement.
We have been asked, among others, to help a neighbor out. Chester resident Peg Breslin is currently in rehab at Gladeview, and thanks to a state program called The Money Follows the Person, she has the opportunity to move back home and continue to receive the care she needs. In order for this to happen, her basement needs to be cleaned out. There is no heavy lifting involved, only a series of “ant trips.” A dumpster will be on site the weekend of June 22-23, and if you can spare some time to help out, please contact Sally at the church office, 860.526.2697. The project is being organized by Peg’s neighbor, Carol Riordan.
After worship this Sunday I and a handful of Deacons will be meeting with folks interested in becoming members of the United Church; if you know someone who might be interested, please feel free to invite them – nothing is more successful than a personal invitation.
