Simon’s Says
First and foremost: Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone! Regardless of anyone’s relationship status, we know on this day as on every other that we are deeply and profoundly loved by God. In honor of the day, I’m going to spend some time with the poetry of love this Sunday morning, some that we find in the Bible, and some from other inspired sources. And you can count on our spending some time with the Song of Songs (Song of Solomon), in some ways a mutual love letter between God and humanity.
However, like some relationships, we will do so from a distance. This weekend looks to be another messy one weatherwise, so we are encouraging everyone to worship remotely from home on Sunday. Karli and I will be at church, and if you feel safe to join us, we welcome you, but strongly encourage you to put wisdom and safety first. I’ll never forget one snowy stormy Sunday many years ago, long before remote worship, even before the internet, when one intrepid family snapped on their cross-country skis and showed up to keep me company! Since you would probably need ice skates this Sunday, we do not recommend you try. Stay warm and cozy and let the wonder of technology bring us together!
As for Sunday’s Unbirthday Party, it has been rescheduled for Sunday March 9, when we welcome Catherine Waugh of Covenant to Care, one of our church’s major mission partners, who will share some of the organization’s work with us, including the many times we have partnered with them over the years.
