The Villager Voice
Happy vernal equinox, it’s the first day of Spring! Now all we need is a full moon and Easter can come…
Last week one of you sent me some information about a Holy Week Walk for Peace sponsored by the Atlantic Life Community, a Roman Catholic organization founded in 1973 by a group dedicated to nonviolent resistance and community; Fr Philip Berrigan was one of the original organizers. The local Walk for Peace will begin in New Haven on Palm Sunday (March 29) and slowly make its way to Groton by Good Friday (April 3). This is from the organizers:
Holy Week Peace Walk
March 29th – April 3rd
2026 Atlantic Life Community Holy Week Peace Walk – New Haven to Groton CT – Sponsored by Shoreline Unitarian Universalist Society
We are walking as a practice of non-violence to, as Pope Leo XIV prays, abandon projects of death, halt the arms race, end nuclear weapons, and place the lives of the most vulnerable at the center.
You can participate by joining the Peace Walk participants in their daily walk with an optional supper. To RSVP for walking with or without supper please contact Karen Gargamelli-McCreight at karen@benincasacommunity.org.
Although some of these details are still being worked out, the day will begin around 8/8:30am with prayer. We will begin walking by 9:30am. There will be a lunch break around 12pm/12:30pm. We walk again in the afternoon, arriving at the next destination around 4:30/5pm.
