We have some wonderful news to share: our church is receiving an anonymous gift of $25,000, to be used expressly for local outreach efforts. The donors, aware of all the good work our congregation already undertakes in the community, and committed to the importance of working for good in our troubled world, are making a wonderful endorsement of our ability to be agents of change, healing and hope. In early 2025, our Church Council will begin framing a strategy for the best and most effective use of this generous gift. We pray that it, and we, will be a blessing to our community.
At Sunday’s Congregational budget meeting the congregation unanimously approved the proposed budget for 2025. Words of thanks go to Moderator Rick Holloway, who helpfully described the process for us, and Treasurer Jonathan Tobin, who gave a detailed explanation of the budget’s formulation and rationale. We are fortunate to have them both as part of our leadership, and thank you to all of you who attended the meeting and gave your voice of affirmation.
This Sunday is both Thanksgiving and Dedication Sunday, when we express our gratitude to God with the dedication of our pledges, our financial commitment and support for the church in the coming year. (If you have not received a pledge card, we have them available in the church narthex and the office.) It is your pledge to the church, and your time and engagement, that make our ministry and mission as strong as they are, and as the above-described gift acknowledges, our work does not go unnoticed. Join us as we recommit ourselves and our gifts this Sunday.
