A coda, of sorts, to last Sunday’s sermon on Thank You notes. You’ll remember I read notes of gratitude from the recipients of the large monetary gift our church received: we divided $25,000 by 6 mission partners. The donor family was worshiping with us that morning, and here is the note I received from them – it is addressed to me, but intended for all of us:
Alan,
Thank you for the sermon. Thank the congregation for their wisdom in the disbursement of funds. It’s rewarding to hear the good come from our donation. We may feel powerless to make significant change and counteract what is happening to our country under the present administration, but it means a lot to us that our “ripples” can positively affect our community.
Speaking of Thank Yous, a big one goes out to Diane Lindsay and her tag sale team last weekend during the town’s community-wide tag sale. Offering items that did not find a home during April’s Rummage Sale, they netted $477 for the church. Considering this is basically “found money,” it is a real bonus for us.
Finally, as we continue to celebrate Katie Wilcox, founder of Lady Doak College in India, we are still accepting contributions for the school. You may send a check to the church office with “Lady Doak” on the memo line, or go straight to our web page (where you are most likely reading this) and use the Donate button in the upper right hand corner.
