Simon’s Says
This Sunday marks the start of Holy Week. Palm Sunday, also called Passion Sunday, recalls Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. We will observe the day with the distribution of palms and a consideration of the desire of the welcoming crowd to make Jesus a King. After church will feature our quarterly Sermon Talk-Back, when we go deeper with the morning’s topic. Everyone is welcome who wants to join us, just grab a coffee and a treat during coffee hour and come join us at the table. If you’d like to do a bit of preparation for the discussion, I recommend looking at all four accounts of the triumphal entry: Matthew 21.1-9, Mark 11.1-10, Luke 19.28-40 and John 12.12-19. Sunday’s sermon will focus on John’s version of the story.

As for the remainder of Holy Week at the United Church, we will hold worship Maundy Thursday at 7:00 pm; Good Friday at 12 noon; Sunrise Service 6:15 am at Fountain Hill Cemetery, Deep River; and Easter Day worship at 10:00 am.
