Simon’s Says
Dear friends, this morning I’m sharing with you this note from our United Church Music Director, Karli Gilbertson:
Beloved UCC Congregation,
To everything a season, to everything a time;
A moment to move forward and leave the past behind.
As summer turns to autumn and bids farewell to spring,
There comes a time for turning to every living thing.
Now is the time for turning and this the place to start…..
These lyrics from an upcoming choir anthem sum up where I am in my life, like many of you who have decided to step back from your busy work lives. (I don’t like the word retirement. How do you retire from making music? Impossible!)
At the end of July I will begin my next adventure. I have had the honor, pleasure and delight to be singing, accompanying and conducting our choir as well as communing with you for about 27 years. I am not sure where I am going yet, but there will hopefully be snow involved wherever it is. And while Minnesota will always be one “home” to me, Chester will be remain another “home”.
Thank you for all of your support, friendship and appreciation for the music through these many years. The time for turning has come.
Peace, Love, Harmony and Shalom
Karli Gilbertson
We will truly miss Karli in so many ways, and we’ll all have the opportunity to thank and celebrate her before she moves on. To that point, the Church Council will meet this Sunday to initiate the process of finding our next Music Director and honoring our current one!
