The Villager Voice
Our quarterly (roughly) Sermon Talk-back will occur this Sunday after church during Coffee Hour. We’re going to take a look at Jesus’ post-resurrection appearances to the women and the disciples and the ways they recalled his encounters with them while he was still alive during his earthly ministry. The stories are in Matthew 28, Luke 24 and John 20 and 21. (Mark does not include any post-resurrection appearances, but even that absence might figure into Sunday’s conversation.). To offer a clue of where we’ll be going with this, Sunday’s sermon is titled Déjà vu All Over Again.
Next Sunday June 14 is our annual Music Appreciation Sunday, when we will honor both our choir and our Music Director Karli Gilbertson. As you know by now, Karli will be retiring at the end of July as she moves on to new adventures, and we send her off with our blessings. June 14 will be the first of two Sundays we recognize her work with us; the second will be July 19, when I will take the opportunity to offer my own reflections (and deep gratitude) for her dedicated and creative work for our church and ministry, and if you are around on that sunny summer Sunday I hope you’ll join us for the occasion.
And thinking of summer Sundays, just a reminder that beginning July 5 worship will begin at 9:00 am through the month of August, reverting to the 10:00 hour September 6.
