Tellabration!  A Celebration of the Oral Tradition

Tellabration is a mammoth storytelling event - and that's no Tall Tale! It's a storytelling phenomenon, made up of dozens of storytelling happenings all over the world. Its purpose is to introduce adults, as well as children, to the pleasures of the oral art of storytelling.  It is one of the programs offered by The Connecticut Storytelling Center, based at Connecticut College in New London.

United Church of Chester will host a Tellabration for adults and young adults 12 & up, on Saturday, November 10th at 7:00 p.m.  For more information call 860-526-2697.  Tickets are $10, and your donation benefits the United Church of Chester, and the Connecticut Storytelling Center, both non-profits.  Back by popular demand, Jennifer Munro will be performing.  Tickets are on sale now at the following businessness (Thank you!):  The Bowerbird in Old Lyme, Emmy’s on Main in Essex, Celebrations in Deep River, and Chester’s Finders Marketplace in Chester and the church office.

Jennifer Munro creates funny, original stories that will touch your heart, lift your spirits, and make you laugh. The characters that populate her stories resonate with the frailty and courage of the human condition. You’ll find yourself cheering for them one moment and weeping the next. Her repertoire not only includes personal stories but also fairy and folk tales, myths, and legends, which she brings to life with compelling character voices and her delightful British accent.

A full listing of Tellabration sites in Connecticut with dates and times can be found by logging onto http://www.connstorycenter.org/tellabration.htm or by calling The Connecticut Storytelling Center at 860-439-2764.

 WELCOME!

"No matter who you are or where you are on life's journey, you are welcome here at the United Church of Chester, an Open and Affirming Church, and a member of the United Church of Christ."

We are a congregation with an over-266-year history of loving, caring, sharing and serving in Chester, CT and beyond. We hold it to be the mission of the Church that: "Relying on the Holy Spirit to lead us and empower us, we worship God, and witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ with loving service and commitment to justice and peace." Each member shall have the undisturbed right to follow the Word of God according to the dictates of his or her own conscience, under the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit.

The United Church of Chester was formed in 1941 by the uniting of two Chester congregations, the Congregational Church (founded in 1740) and the Baptist Church (founded in 1822). In 1948, the two separate sanctuaries were physically joined together to complete the uniting process.

We are a diverse Protestant denomination and are a member of the United Church of Christ, a community of faith that seeks to respond to the Gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed.

We are an Open and Affirming Church so we welcome all seekers to journey with us.

All are welcome here!
