The Villager Voice

That’s right - Coffice Hours are back, another step in reclaiming some of what we have missed in the past 15 months - and I’ve already had two delightful conversations before I could dig into my eggs.  Still, as we’ve been saying all along, it won’t do to just keep doing things the same way as we always used to, so I’m going to change things up a little bit:  Briana Jewczyn has graciously invited me to spend the occasional Friday hours at The Hive, so you will be able to find me on a new perch (and a new porch) in addition to the customary ones from time to time.

And this weekend we’re going to do a little reclaiming of our own in worship.  Our Regathering group has made some adjustments to the process.  We will no longer be taking temperatures on your arrival at worship, nor contact tracing information.  Hymnals and Bibles will return to the pews; in fact I’d like to ask your help:  if you could give a few extra minutes after worship this Sunday, your many hands will lighten the work of putting them all back.  We will leave the pew cushions staggered, as we haven’t yet had the need to reduce our distancing.  Likewise we will remain masked for the time being.  One other thing:  I’ve noticed that more than a few of the congregation have been singing quietly behind your masks, and that’s OK.  We aren’t ready for full-throated four part harmony yet, but if you want to sing sotto voce, your church grants indulgence.  You’ll likely notice some more small changes as the weeks progress as well.

Two things that won’t change yet:  our method of communion, so please remember to bring a bottle of water, and oyster crackers will be provided.  (And if you’re worshiping at home this week, remember to have your bread and cup at the ready.)  As well, we aren’t passing offering plates, so please either place your donation in the plates in the narthex or downstairs, or simply mail your contribution to the church.

Finally, if there is a graduate in your family you'd like to celebrate, please let us know in the church office so we can share your good news in this month's Uniter.
