Some updates this morning, courtesy of our Board of Deacons. Beginning next Sunday, September 4, we will return to celebrating communion as we did prior to the pandemic. Deacons will be masked and gloved when they prepare the bread and grape juice, and masked as they distribute the elements as well. Gluten-free bread will always be available. Still, mindful that not all may be comfortable with taking communion in this fashion, we will still make water and oyster crackers available in the narthex; the choice is yours.
Then on Sunday September 11, when the church year resumes at full bore, we will have a picnic after church in the churchyard (weather permitting – we’ll be ready to move indoors in case of rain). Again, to be cautious, we will ask each family to bring its own picnic food to enjoy. (We will have food available for anyone who comes without that day.) We will miss our traditional Cedar Lake worship, but since broadcasting the service from the lake is iffy at best, we think this is a nice way of combining the in-person worship with the spirit of celebrating outdoors. Come join us!
A couple of other reminders: the church elevator is back in working condition, making our services accessible for all; we return to 10 am worship next Sunday September 4; and this week’s service will be a musical one, featuring some special music by Diane Adams and myself, and a good deal of singalong!
